8 seasons as Assistant volleyball
2 seasons as Assistant girls tennis

Graduated from Glidden - Ralston HS in Iowa in 2000, Attended Iowa Central CC with a major in Computer Network Technology. I work at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as an IT Support Analyst in the Deptartment of Ophthalmology. I also am the assistant girls Tennis coach at West finishing my second season this past spring. My wife Sheena and I live in North Liberty and have two kids, 5yr old Everett and 1 year old Adler.

AS a coach I have always tried to emulate coaches that I respect and admire. The largest guiding principle I have taken from those influences is that in addition to teaching to playing the game with pride, you should also enjoy the people around you. This is accomplished by teaching the correct techniques in the beginning of each season and mastering the process of learning a new way. A large portion of learning a new way is being open to it. To make that concept easier I find it helpful to not only tell players what we want them to do, but also why we want them to do it that way. I also believe that when you feel like you are in a safe and support situation you can learn more than when the situation might be tougher and more negative. There is a place for accountability with players but not disappointment in their play. I either have them ready and in a position to be successful or I don’t. There is an incredible legacy at IC West and in our volleyball program. I have been part of the program now for a length of time that has seen state championships, multiple head coaches, and heartbreak from losses and the loss of a player. I am trying to continue the strength of the program by fostering a commitment to the learning process and support for your teammat
